MakeTheInternetGo pairs small diagnostic tools with the context needed to interpret their results. The goal is to turn “the internet is broken” into a specific next check.

How the site approaches troubleshooting

The tools focus on signals a browser can measure directly: DNS answers, browser-to-edge speed, and the public IP address presented by the current connection. Each result is a clue about one path at one moment, not a universal verdict on an internet connection.

Speed-test methodology

The browser speed test runs four uncached round trips and reports their median latency. It then downloads an 8 MiB generated payload and uploads a 4 MiB generated payload. The three stages run in sequence against the Cloudflare edge serving this site.

Download and upload rates are calculated from transferred bytes and elapsed browser time. Results can change with Wi-Fi conditions, VPN routing, competing traffic, browser limits, device load, and the path to the current edge.
